About the Saint Catherine of Siena
Homeless Outreach Program
The Saint Catherine of Siena Homeless Outreach Program is
an all-volunteer program headquartered on the streets, beaches,
and parks of Laguna Beach. Our mission is to help the homeless
of Laguna Beach regain a normal and more secure life by tackling
the problems that led to their homelessness. This is done
by helping each client develop and implement a plan for recovery,
by facilitating that plan with the help of various local resources,
and by encouraging and supporting the client through the process.
The Outreach Program's aim is to assist our clients in connecting
with the local government and nonprofit facilities and services
that they require and to provide friendship, encouragement,
and guidance. This program is not an alternative to any shelter
or housing program currently being planned in Laguna Beach.
Instead, it is the action required until such housing/shelter
is made available. The Homeless Outreach Program augments
all the other activities currently undertaken on behalf of
the homeless in and around Laguna Beach. This is a group effort
undertaken by Laguna's community of volunteersthose
with heart, vision, compassion, and a desire to do something
extraordinary.

Homeless Outreach Activities in Laguna Beach
Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church is a member of the
Laguna Interfaith Council. The Council was created in an effort
to maximize communication and cooperation among the various
Churches and other faith-based and philosophical organizations
in and around Laguna Beach. The Council is made up of representatives
from most of these churches and organizations. The Council
has recently decided to become an active agent in helping
the homeless in Laguna. The current action by the Saint Catherine
of Siena Parish is the first step by a member of the Interfaith
Council to initiate this activity.
